The Municipal Chief Executive addressing the market community

The MCE, Hon. Maxwell K. Lugudor and some Heads of Department of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly visited the Gakli community as part of Assembly’s community engagement activities to discuss critical development issues. Various stakeholders including Chiefs, market women representatives, the security agencies among others were present to grace the occasion.

Among issues discussed, were sanitation, smuggling of goods such as cement and rice transported illegally from Ghana to Togo and vice versa through various illegal route, economic trade with Cedi and the CFA, property rate and building permits.

The MCE stated that a police station will be constructed in the community in 4 months to curb insecurity issues in and around the community. He added that in few weeks a site possession will be conducted to make way for the contractor to commence work. On sanitation issues, he said, rubbish containers will be supplied to the community to address the unhygienic menace. Again, the MCE, promised that in the future, the ‘Gakli Fine Boy’ Market will be expanded and together with the construction of their roads.

The Queen mother of the market expressed her joy for the police station because it will curb the issue of theft and robbery in the market and community.

The Assembly man of the area disclosed that the community will appreciate a CHPS compound or hospital in the community to help address their health needs. His closing remarks were brief and He thanked all present that graced the occasion.
